We are all very excited to be collaborating with the Centre de l'Imaginaire Arthurien in a project involving artists and creators from Brittany and Devon.

Film

We are making a 52 minute film of a twelfth century fairytale, Sir Lanval, set in King Arthur's Court. It's a breathtaking rollercoaster of a romance - love, betrayal, deceit, passion, fidelity, all played out in the fairytale granite landscapes of both Dartmoor and Brittany. The film will initially be distributed free to schools and touristic places.

Exhibition

Alongside the film there will be an exhibition of the props and costumes accompanied by newly commissioned paintings from both French and British artists inspired by the magnificent tale of Sir Lanval. The exhibition will travel to different venues in Brittany and Devon.

Project details

The international premiere is on 30th October 2010 in Rennes, Exeter's twin city. The UK premiere will be in December to coincide with the exhibition. The film was shot in October 2009 and May 2010, involving more than 150 people. More photos will be online very soon.

The 58,000 euro Shared Legends Project is funded by The European Programme of Cross Border Co-operation with additional funding from South West Screen. The project is a collaboration between Chagford Filmmaking Group and Le Centre de l'Imaginaire Arthurien in Brittany.
